Robert E. Brunel brings a wealth of experience to the softball program of South Georgia College.

A 1991 graduate of LaGrange College in the western part of the state, he played all his life on local and regional baseball teams, bringing a very aggressive coaching style with him. A lifelong player, Coach Brunel continues to play on local, adult teams throughout the area.

Before beginning his first year at SGC, he has coached a wide variety of teams on several levels, including eight years at Wesleyan College in Macon, and three years at Georgia Military College. He also volunteered to coach numerous youth players on hitting and pitching techniques.

Coach Brunel is a genuine student of the sport. Over the years, he has created a style of play that is exciting, dominant and fun to watch. Coach Brunel wants all of his players to dominate in the field and at the plate. Through his aggressive coaching style, his players are routinely in the top half of the conference in runs scored and batting average.

A strong believer in mastering the fundamentals, Brunel’s teams are well-schooled, drilled, and trained. His players are required to work hard and maintain a high level of physical and mental discipline. Coach Brunel stresses that his team work as a cohesive unit, yet relies on individual initiative and extra effort.
