SGCEP Admissions
All admissions applications into the South Georgia College Entry Program
will be processed by the Entry Program Admissions Coordinator in Valdosta.
The SGCEP Admissions Coordinator is located in Room UC 2037B of the
University Center located on the Valdosta State University campus and can be

cgriner@sgc.edu; or by mail at South Georgia College Entry Program 1500
North Patterson Street Valdosta, GA 31698.
All students who wish to apply for admission to the SGCEP should provide the
required forms and fees no later than 20 days prior to the registration date
of the desired enrollment semester. The application must include the
following forms:
- A completed application along with a non-refundable fee of $20.00 in the
form of a check or money order payable to SGC. Please note payment of the
application fee does not guarantee admission to the program.
- An official high school transcript and/or GED scores.
- An official college transcript, if applicable.
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score or American College Test (ACT) score,
if applicable but not required. A placement tests, known as the COMPASS, is
required and must be requested.
- A completed Immunization Form.
- A completed institutional Application for Financial Aid for those wishing
to apply for financial assistance.
- A completed verification form signed by the student and/or spouse and/or
parents for those students applying for financial aid, along with a copy of
the most recent tax return.
SGCEP is for students who:
- Did not complete all necessary classes in the College Preparatory
Curriculum.
- Graduated with a Tech Prep diploma and does not have SAT/ACT scores to
enter a university.
- Is a returning adult student or new adult student.
- Is an international student who needs to meet the academic entry standards
and develop study, language, and cultural skills for successful university
entry?
SGCEP includes taking a COMPASS placement exam, learning support classes if
necessary, and 30 or more hours of university accredited core curriculum
classes. In the SGCEP there are two options:
- You can complete 30 hours and transfer to a university meeting the core
course requirements.
- OR after completing approximately 64 hours with a 2.0 GPA, you can gain
an Associate degree and admission to a four year institution as a junior.
Once an application is submitted, it becomes the property of SGC and will
not be returned to the applicant or another institution. Records of
applicants who do not enroll within twelve (12) months will be destroyed.
