University Transfer Program: Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Degrees

The Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science degree programs are for those whose ultimate goal is to achieve a bachelor’s or higher degree from a four-year institution or university. Also known as the university transfer degree, the A.A./A.S. curriculum is comparable to the freshman and sophomore years at a university. The University System of Georgia Core Curriculum is fully transferable among the 35 institutions of the University system.  The majority of courses in the core curriculum are general education — such as English, mathematics, humanities, science and social studies. The remaining courses are selected based on the student’s intended transfer major and are meant to satisfy prerequisite requirements for that major. Following are some intended transfer major areas which A.A./A.S. students may choose. This list is not a complete list of possibilities. See a counselor or advisor for other areas of interest.
