SGCEP in Americus Admissions Process
All admissions applications into the South Georgia College Entry Program in
Americus will be processed by the Admissions staff at South Georgia College’s
main campus.
All students who wish to apply for admission to the SGCEP should provide the
required forms and fees no later than 20 days prior to the registration date of
the desired enrollment semester. The application must include the following
forms:
- A completed application along with a non-refundable fee of $20.00 in the
form of a check or money order payable to SGC. Please note payment of the
application fee does not guarantee admission to the program.
- An official high school transcript and/or GED scores.
- An official college transcript, if applicable.
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score or American College Test (ACT)
score, if applicable but not required. A placement test, known as the
COMPASS, may be required. Entry Program students should contact the Georgia
Southwestern entry program coordinator at 229.931.5141 for information about
the COMPASS test.
- A completed Immunization Form.
- A completed institutional Application for Financial Aid for those
wishing to apply for financial assistance.
- A completed verification form signed by the student and/or spouse and/or
parents for those students applying for financial aid, along with a copy of
the most recent tax return.
SGCEP is for the student who:
- Did not complete all necessary classes in the College Preparatory
Curriculum.
- Graduated with a Tech Prep diploma and does not have SAT/ACT scores to
enter a university.
- Is a returning adult student or new adult student.
SGCEP includes taking a COMPASS placement exam, learning support classes if
necessary, and 30 or more hours of university accredited core curriculum
classes. After meeting these requirements, you can then transfer to Georgia
Southwestern State University or any University System of Georgia senior college
or university.
Once an application is submitted, it becomes the property of SGC and will not be
returned to the applicant or another institution. Records of applicants who do
not enroll within twelve (12) months will be destroyed.
