nursing program

Welcome from the Division of Nursing at South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia.
Our 72-semester credit hour program prepares students to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. Successful completion entitles one to practice nursing and use the title, Registered Nurse (R.N.). An LPN-RN bridge program is available to students possessing a current Georgia LPN license and meeting all admission requirements for the Division of Nursing.

The registered nurse is a member of the health care team who offers direct patient care, supervision of other members of the team, and teaching in collaboration with other members of the team. Employment opportunities are great in the field of nursing. The Bureau of Labor predicts a 23% growth by 2008 in the number of jobs for nurses. One half of the current workforce will retire over the next 15 years. Nursing is a profession where opportunities abound.

South Georgia College’s Associate Degree Nursing Program is fully approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing (237 Coliseum Drive; Macon, GA  31217-3858). The program is also accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Information regarding the accreditation status of nursing programs may be obtained by contacting the NLNAC at 64 Broadway 33rd floor, New York, New York 10006, 212.363.5555.
